A video wall is a group of video displays tiled together to create a single, large display surface. It also includes the hardware and software that enable the screens to work together seamlessly, acquire dynamic and static content, and control when and where content appears on the wall.
An IP-based video wall system, like those powered by Hiperwall software, consists of:
Input: These are typically devices such as IP cameras, security access systems computer-based graphic, streaming content, cable TV, website feeds, even off-premise physical devices being monitored by a sensor.
Networking Equipment: Ethernet switches, routers, encoders and cables.
Computing Hardware: PCs, small node PCs for displays, and laptops or tablets for remote control.
Output: Usually a tiled arrangement of monitors, panels, or projection screens. Output devices are available in a broad range of display technologies, including LCD, LED, projection cubes, and blended projection.
Control Software: Connects content sources to the displays. Controls what content is shown on the screens, when and where it appears, and how it looks. Provides a dashboard for the user to manage when and where to content appears on the video wall.

A video wall system can be a big investment. So why spend the extra money when you could use a single large display, a front projector, or a set of individual TVs?
Situational Awareness
A video wall gives you a real-time dashboard that keeps information at your fingertips during normal operations, as well as during crisis management. You can present large amounts of data effectively to improve situational awareness and rapid decision making.
Content Control
Feature-rich video wall software offers a range of tools for managing and manipulating content on the displays. Content windows can be arranged, scaled, zoomed, cropped, animated, and layered.
Flexibility
You can customize video walls to your needs. They can be wall-mounted, free-standing, non-rectangular, and split into several sections or rooms. With this versatility, video walls can be used in an extensive range of environments and use-cases.
Forward-looking and secure
Video wall systems can be flexible, forward-looking, secure, and fail-safe. All of which is especially important in mission-critical and 24/7 operations.
